              “Bishop Talk”

I hope everyone is making plans to attend District Camp Meeting and Convention beginning August 3rd. We have some very special guest planning to be with us.

Monday and Friday night’s speaker will be Pastor John Parish from Oklahoma. Tuesday afternoon in the service spotlighting our evangelist we have Reverend Isaac Shelton from Ohio scheduled to present his drama presentation of the ministry of The Apostle Paul. You do not want to miss this service.

Tuesday night in the World Missions’ service, Missionaries Wayne and Mary Emma Mullins will be speaking. Please plan now to bring a special mission’s offering to that service.

Wednesday morning Missionary Phyllis Copp will bring the message. The Copps will also be itinerating in the District during the month of November.

Both Thursday and Friday nights will be special. Thursday night is Ordination Service and Friday night is AIM graduation. The ordination candidates and the graduates alike are worthy of all the accolades and honor we can give them.

Teen Talent and General Convention: Our hats are off to the youth of Arkansas District as they participated in National Teen Talent Expo. They were the best and they brought home many prestigious awards to prove it. Please see the Youth Ministries Report for details. (You can see this on the district web site as well)

The General Office will be sending out a complete convention report soon, however, in brief, Bro. and Sis. Scott were returned to office of General Bishop and Women’s Ministry and Bro. Ming as General Secretary. As you review the convention report you will be receiving in a few days, please try to approach it like you want your parishioners to approach decisions made by the local church. Different opinions lead folks to come to different conclusions. However, we endeavor to work together even though we may see things differently.

Feature Church

Trinity PCG, Higginson

Reverend Murlie and Don Branscum

Trinity Pentecostal Church of God was established on Nov. 16, 2003 by Reverend Clarence Smith.  It was located in a little store front on Market Street in Searcy.  It was chartered with the Pentecostal Church of God shortly thereafter.

On June 27, 2005 the congregation purchased a church building in Higginson and moved to its present location, 335 AR Hwy. 11.  Those that were there said, “It took a lot of work to get the building in shape and looking good.”

When Bro. Smith resigned in June 2006, Reverends Paul and Shirley Rascoe were selected as pastors.  Reverend and Mrs. Frank Stephens followed them and served until July of 2007.

Upon Bro. Stephens resignation, the current pastors,   Brother  Don  and  Reverend  Murlie

Branscum were appointed.

In April of 2009, the congregation purchased the land behind the church with plans to build a new sanctuary in the near future and remodel the existing sanctuary for use as a fellowship hall.

In the past 2 years several have been saved, filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in water.

Pastor Branscum said, “The new sanctuary plans call for a baptistery. No more baptizing in the river in November! God has performed many miracles in our services.  The most recent: a lady who has suffered with arthritis in her feet and legs for twenty-eight years came forward for prayer.  She left the service walking without a limp and without pain! We give God the glory and praise for His goodness and mercy to us!”

Sister Branscum was diagnosed with an artery disease and heart problems in 2005. Because of this she resigned her pastorate at McRae in March of 2006 and moved to Salem.  She said, “I was in the bed or recliner most of the time until March of 2007.  I was called to come for the funeral of Sis. Doris Cummings.  I drove down here for visitation night, stayed for the funeral and drove about 100 miles to the burial site, then 200 miles back to Salem.  The next day I realized that I was able to have strength to get up and go again!  This was a first in a long, long time.  Up until this time just the drive down here would have put me in bed for 2 or 3 days, not to mention all of the activity that I did while we were on that trip.

There was no clap of thunder, no bolt of lightning, just strength. The awful chest pain that I had endured constantly since 2005 was gone!  Praise the Lord!

The rest is history.  Here we are once again, in the service of the Lord and so thankful for every moment.

I still have other health issues and don't feel well a lot of the time, but nothing like before.  When I get extremely tired or upset the chest pain tries to come back and I have to remind myself and the devil that the Lord healed me. The Dr. doesn't have much to say as I still have the 5 stints and high cholesterol. He says, ‘Just watch your diet and do what you feel like doing.’  Isn't God great!
